Emanuel Lutheran Church

The Church that Love Builds

The mission of Faith Stepping Stones is to bless the child, gift the family, and call the parents to the promise every night in every home.  Emanuel Lutheran Church hosts several of the Faith Stepping Stones including Baptism, Entry into Sunday Church School, My Bible, Communion for all God’s People, Head to Heart Confirmation and High School Graduation.

Baptism

Parents and sponsors were invited to learn about baptismal promises they make for their children through conversations with Pastor Cady.  During this time, there is an opportunity to learn about the supports that are in place to help children grow in faith at Emanuel.

Entry into Sunday Church School
On Rally Day in September, all three year old children along with their parents are invited to come and be blessed at the altar as they begin their Church School years.  Families are gifted with the Beginner’s Bible for Preschoolers.

My Bible

Students in Grade 3 will receive a NRSV Children’s Bible during a Spring worship service.   Our goal is to invite families to a rotation workshop learning program on the Bible.  This will encourage families to explore the Bible together!

Communion for all God’s People

Education on Holy Communion occurs in late March or early April each year.  The curriculum has three themes and one theme is explored each year through hands on learning.  All baptized children are encouraged and invited to the table each and every Sunday and also to come to a yearly education event.  One of three themes is the focus of this intergenerational event each year - Come, Lord Jesus; Circle of Forgiveness or The Welcome Table

Advent Workshop
Each year, Emanuel celebrates the beginning of the Advent season with a family-oriented Advent workshop.  This usually takes place on a Sunday after church – lunch is provided, followed by a variety of dramatic, educational, and craft activities.  The 2007 workshop featured an opportunity for families to read about how a homeless shelter is run, read books on homelessness, and each family made personal care kits for MACC.
